WELCOME!
Flying Cube Productions was formed to
serve as a commercial channel for Rafe Lyford's creative output
in the worlds of web based media, music recordings, &
music publishing. Rafe Lyford is the sole proprietor, although
as evident from reading below, he has had the much appreciated
help of many friends and family.
In the beginning...
The
first recording project for Flying Cube, Rafe Lyford's Kind
of Intrinsic, was released at the end of 2001. It
is comprised of all original instrumental jazz tunes that
are also published through Flying Cube Productions. The musicians
on the recording were Rafe Lyford, trombone; Max Wendt, saxophones;
Scott Van Domelen, saxophones; Matt Netter, upright bass;
Jim Guckenberg, drums & percussion; and Bret Lobben, percussion.
The music on the CD is available as sheet
music. The recording is available for purchase
online. It may also be listened to in it's entirety at
CubeTunes.com.
I heard it on NPR!
Starting
in 2002, snippets from at least 4 tunes from Kind
of Intrinsic could be heard in-between story segments
on National Public Radio's news show All Things Considered.
Since then, they have been played again several times. For
more information, click
here.
The second CD
2003
saw the release of the CD Misplaced Appliances by the
Things Quartet in conjunction with Favorite Nose Productions.
This group was comprised of a subgroup from the musicians
that played on Kind
of Intrinsic: Rafe Lyford, trombone; Max Wendt, saxophones;
Matt Netter, upright bass; Tom Lewis, upright bass; and Jim
Guckenberg, drums. Again, all of the music on the CD are original
instrumental jazz tunes, but this time by both Rafe and Max.
Rafe's tunes are available as sheet
music. The recording is available for purchase
online. It may also be listened to in it's entirety at
CubeTunes.com.
Explorations in Electronica
In
2005, Rafe released a CD called Evil Twin Cometh. Produced
entirely in Rafe's home project studio by himself, it is comprised
of all original electronica music. The looping, repetitious
nature of the music make it well suited for background and
soundtrack music.
The recording is available for purchase
online. It may also be listened to in it's entirety at
CubeTunes.com.
CubeTunes.com
Also
in 2005, Flying Cube Productions launched it's own online
radio station called CubeTunes.com.
It allows you to stream to your computer and listen to all
of the music mentioned here via Windows Media player.
CubeTunes.com
will also serve as the spot to hear any new music that Rafe
creates.
Shameless self-promotion
All of Rafe's music is available for
commercial licensing in soundtracks, advertisements, etc.

Rafe also has 10 years of experience
working as a webmaster, web developer, and web designer. For

The future...
Although Flying Cube Productions is focused
primarily on the creative output of Rafe Lyford for the immediate
future, there is the potential to include the works of other
independent, creative musicians further down the road. Please
feel free to Contact Us with ideas.
Thank-you for your visit.
